    M40 - Km?

This is one of my first new items from my leave back home . I was just able to make out a date of 1940 on the liner band - there was so much dust & crud between the shell and the band, I could hardly see anything!
The helmet is maker marked EF64.
When I got it home last night, I looked at the remnants of the decal, and noticed that it may not be a toned heer like I initially thought because I see gold metallic color in the wings of the bird. I will try and get some better pics of this later tonight or tomorrow. It's a shame so much of the decal is gone.
Also, the helmet appears to have a very mild camo. There are areas that are a brown/feldgrau mix painted over the feldgrau.
One other interesting note - the helmet had been victim of shrapnel, and had been sent back to the factory, patched up, repainted in that two spots, and sent back out. They did a fantastic job!
    All help is greatly appreciated
    Karl

      Hello
No it is not a KM IMHO,it does not have a nice deep gold color and appears to be a heer decal covered by some varnish.
However I could entertain doubt about the leather liner and the chin-strap too.
      Best Regards

The liner has age to it which matches the rest of the helmet, it is just bad photo skills (I have lost my touch!) that make it look replaced. I will try and get a better pic tomorrow.
              Thanks for all the input!

Also, the chinstrap is one I got in Germany - it was on a German wartime reissued adrian helmet. I have no doubts about it's originality.

It is not just the condition of the liner I have reserves about.....The shape of the fingers look wrong, the size and spacing of the vent holes are not quite usual, but most of all it is the way the leather folds around the inside and does not have a fitted look.

I may be wrong ( and I hope I am ) but good pictures of the inside of the leather, including the felt band will help.

                  regards Mr Slug.

Had a quick look through the racks, and am pleased to agree with Mayer.

He is of course quite right, it is a good KM, just as he suggested ! Here is a picture I believe it to be the same decal, also on an EF.

I just hope I am wrong regarding the Liner !

                      regards Mr Slug.

I will take some pics of the liner a little later (going to Polish Fest in Milwaukee in just a few ) Great to hear about the decal - I will get some better pics of that as well - it is a beautiful day in Wisconsin for photo taking!
Y'all have a great one until then

damn it, now i'll have to take some better pics of my SD "toned heer"? EF68 M40 and post here shortly. it looks awfully close to the gold you've posted. the thing about EF KM decals is that they are not layered as other manufacturers' are, is this right? mine is very deep gold with some white web cracks if you will...i'll post when i get home tonight if the kids don't get in the way

The liner's inner ring with the leather is bad, no two ways about it Im afraid. Sorry.
