There has always been "suspicion" over this dealer and his willingness to alter items here and there for profit. I've said that before and no one listened either. It just takes PROOF before people really get the message. This is not the first time that Ken has done this sort of thing - there are at least two other cases where this has happened several years ago - but no one wanted to listen and they were blinded by their false belief that he was a "decent and trustworthy" collector.
It's just that collectors still want the easy out and "create the illusion" in their minds that one dealer or another is "perfect" and "trusted" in every sense. If you look at the history of Ken's relationship in the collecting realm, he was once considered "perfect and without blemish and one of the most trusted". HE IS CLEARLY NOT THAT AT ALL. A wolf in sheeps clothing and out to make a lot of money by manipulating that fake reputation so as to simply get rich.
I hope everyone reading these threads really takes that to heart and doesn't miss the main point here.
Collectors should always judge the helmet not the dealer - dealers are known to fake things all the time even if YOU think they are "perfect and honest."
In this case, the situation is even worse because Ken clearly has demonstrated MALICIOUS, FALSE, AND MANIPULATIVE intent to DEFRAUD collectors of their money and integrity by pretending to be a trusted brother in this hobby. This is the WORST kind of manipulation there can be.
My response is harsh - but why should anyone ever trust Ken ever again when clearly in the last six months he's been caught in a manipulative run-around game of lies and excuses all designed to cover his tracks and protect this false image?
Boot him from the hobby and let it stand as a lesson that if you think you're the god of collecting and fake that reputation to all, then when you get caught in your lies then we're done with you for good.
PS. Whoever "Charly Taylor" is - it seems this person is clearly a "johny come lately" and no doubt one of the paid hands of Ken or even Ken himself disguised as yet one more trick to get a voice into this conversation buried in false pretense.

This hobby is insane. Stop and enjoy what you think is real and stop trying to tell everybody what they have is not. It's a sad day for this hobby. I think Kelly Hicks will be next.. Charly
Charly why would you think Kelly is next?
First, Kelly is not a dealer. And, he has done more for the collecting community on identifying and eliminating fakes than anyone else here?
He sells helmets as a collector (as we all do) and it's nobody's business why he is. Don't assume that he is selling them for his own financial gain. I know for a fact that he is selling for a friend who is significantly downsizing his collection. The only way Ken is involved in these transaction is Kelly is using it has a method to advertise. Ken doesn't set the price for the helmets, inspect them, guarantee them, or even have any of the correspondence about them. It's completely separate.
I can assure you that if I were to unexpectedly die, my wife would not be selling the helmets. Kelly or someone else I respect and trust will be selling to ensure that my kids get the most out of them. That includes using any means necessary such as a dealer website.
Don't be too quick to judge.Last edited by Ty Smith; 10-20-2006, 06:44 AM.

Some of you might be asking why would Mr. Hicks even think of dealing with Charlie knowing his rep. I don't know the answer to that but I do know that Mr.Hicks warned everybody so we would not get ripped off.
Enjoy your hobby
