Sadly, in my experience, nearly all so-called DAK Helmets are post war fantasies, and I would never buy one unless I personally knew of its actual provenance....which these days is becoming very unlikely.

Giorgio, that is a great looking lid, and if any stood a chance its that one! I understand the skepticism on these and follow suit in being unendingly cautious. Yours and the one Perry posted are two that give hope though. Great looking helmets.

Things one remembers-30 years ago I was in a girlfriend's brother-in-law's garage and spotted a nice tan helmet on a shelf.

He said his uncle sent it home from N Africa and he had had it since he was a kid. About 1950.

I was concentrating on a bike at the time and never got around to examining the helmet. No visible insignia, for sure.

I agree. Similar to the FJ Sturm Rgt helmets with comet on them.

I would like to post one last close up photo. Anyone got an idea of how the paint coats were faked? Got base factory coat. a second darker tan. I think a green and then a mud yellow.

Looks good, Giorgio's is real. Amazing helmet, very impressive in hand.

The camo paint is very nice but I remain very sceptical of helmets with the palm tree painted on the side.

One I thought stood a real good chance but was only able to get so close to it. Was on display at the 04 Max.

For me this would be the only one to have a good chance of being real.......

Going to add my helmet to this group as well. Hopefully more information comes available on the subject. As originally reviewed, the opinion was believed to be post war paint. However, I still doubt the review. Just my opinion after research

Disregarding the palm completely - the camo itself doesn't look to be period applied. Has many characteristics of a post-war applied camo with tool marks. I wouldn't hold out much hope for this one.
