M16 Standard Helmet with Camo Paint

Here are pictures of a WW1 M16 camo helmet that I just acquired. I was not sure whether to post these pictures here or in the Imperial thread, but a quick search shows that most M16 threads are on this Helmets Forum, so here goes.

The markings stamped in the inside dome are: "R 8 27". Any markings that would or could have been on the inner side rims are covered by the camo paint. However, handwritten in pencil on the underside of the back rim is: "3605" and what I assume to be a surname which I am unable to decipher. If anyone can read the name, I would appreciate knowing what it is, please.

Any other comments are also welcome.

    Thanks and regards,
    John

              Hi JW,

I am surprised no one has commented may be a post in the imperial section will help. But this is (IMO) a non standard and strange camo, one type i have never seen before.

Thanks for your comments and suggestion, Ashley. I'll put this up in the Imperial section and see if it gets any results there. I am not a helmet person, so am certainly hoping that it is a period original...and if it is, and it's non-standard and an unusual camo pattern, so much the better!

                Regards,
                John

Hi John, I like the helmet I like the wear and overall look. It looks very honest to me. As you know these camo helemts are much faked. Like Ashley says it is not the "standard" Mimic three colour pattern (if there is such a thing ). I suspect the maker will be "ET". Have a close look near the chinstrap mounts for the markings.

                  Cheers, Ade.
