I apologize, my mistake, looks like it's a cavalry/artillery sword

Variants existed, with straight and curved blades. The difference lays on the handle and handguard.
Here's a scan from a book printed by the Historical Office of the Army General Staff...

      looks like it's a cavalry/artillery sword
      cavalry/veterinary sword
artillery only for mounted regiments (voloire) but is out of regulations (fuori ordinanza); usually artillery have the sword of infantry

I admit that I personally have never been able to find differences between the model 1873 and the model 1888. They change very few details and since the manufacturers were many and in my opinion it is really difficult to recognize them.
to recognize the weapon to which a saber belonged, the hilt must be looked at.
3 bar hit with shaped handle : infantry, artillery, stato maggiore (major state? I don't' know if is a correct traslation), pionieers and services.
4 bar hit with smooth handle : cavalry veterinary and artillery mounted (voloire) fuori ordinanza.
5 bar with shaped handle lion head: bersaglieri

      Cavalry swords should be curved!
not always. but usually the cavalry sabers were heavier

is a more common mod. 1888 officer sword
a curiosity: the saber named model 1888 was adopted with the publication in the military newspaper number 251 or 261 (I not remember) of 1887. So it should be called 1887. A bit like the uniform model '34 actually adopted from 1933 ... .

I found this one on the internet the same as mine described as a WW1 1873 Italian Cavalry sword !
In 1ww usually the sabers were burnished. I think, however, that it should be emphasized that we are always talking about parade and not combat sabers. therefore high uniform sabers. Cavalry combat sabers were different!
