imho not is an Bregonzio model but one of the different type denominated "long
rose" I think the type not in zamac especially created for the soldiers in service
at flotilla sea. The zamac have at contact with the air marine salt an fast corrosion
for this motive was created this difference type of shield . I have one of this type
in my collection; an rare shield.

"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".
Rafaelo , I believe it is a bergonzio as it has the same die flaw as the others.
It is at the right upper apex of the X on backside
Maybe true for naval units at sea or earlier model
I truly regret not buying this one.
The only shields suitable for sea/marine purpose ( but probably only made at that time with the best base material in stock)were the ones made using brass sheet, all the rest made in zamak or zamak nickel plated or anyohw zink- iron base were production made using the material available .

Dear Dennis,
in this comparison of the skulls two shields skull have little difference .. in particular see the
eyes I don't think the shield of Giorgio is an Bregonzio model, never seen before an this factory shield
gold plated all Bregonzio shields have the same characteristics and were found in the same period; if is
an Bregonzio model is the first can I see...
