    1935-1943 Italian Pilot Badge

    Dear forumites,

I am quite pleased to show my newly acquired Italian "brevetto di pilota". This badge does have a hallmark on the reverse: F.lli Breccia ROMA. The design of the eagle is particularly well done with a very high quality detail. Notice also that the gilting is covering all this silver piece, with the exception of the blade of the fascio littorio (which translates in English to the Lictorian Fasces).

The symbol consists of a bundle of rods symbolizing strength in unity. The ax blade meant the administration of required discipline and sentence by the old Roman Magistrates since this was the symbol of justice in Roman courts.

I think that it is an hollow constructed piece, since it is quite light. This badge is to date before 1943 since both symbols of the monarchy and of the Fascist regime are shown on the badge. ¨

Feel free please to comment this piece and to show your own ones!

    Ciao,

    Claudio

      Hi, Claudio!
Your is a fantastic example of a marked italian pilot's badge, built somewhere in the time before the 1943, as you have corrected stated.
This kind of badge saw the light in 1937, when the draw goes to shapes more 'dry', close to the period taste.

More info here. For everything you want, feel free to ask me! (no pussycat dolls, please!)

        Different opinion

        Hello Lello
I usually agree with you but this time I don't

The Flli Breccia is nice but IMO this other one is ... PERFECT

Is the original F.lli D'Angelo Giordano, Jeweller in Naples, Italy, and is a badge that you know well ....

Please look at the manifacturer of the wings.

              bag

And last but not least the original paper bag.

All the ones of you that have seen the thread about my father have surely recognize these wings: this is my dad personal flying badge.

Lello and Claudio will forgive my words but I have a personal feeling with this small precious eagle.

In the next days, Claudio, I will post all my wings collection ...

              Cheers

                  Hi there!
I agree with Fabio. I've note that lots a beautyful example of pilot's badge came to naples, maybe there was a long tradition jewellery school in south italy, and the item build by the D'Angelo Giordano bros. was one of the best you can found!

                  Cheers, Frank
