(imo possibly replaced) sorry but this helmet make part of an original lot of
WWII helmets shell used after the war by italian airforce in dark blue paint by
(VAM Vigilanza Armata Militare) airforce service of vigilance airport.
Those helmets were found in the 90 years' in an military depot and refurbished
with an new paint green and after with some camouflage paint ww2.

Paolo, very bad pictures
In my opinion this helm is original from IIWW but I am agree with Raffello's comments, but I am disagree that this one is one of those were found in the VAM depots.
By these pictures seem the sausage protection is blue but is green.
I know the story very well and I am agree that a lot of were found in the 90 years.
I have not pics to show the sausage is green, please Paolo make a good picture of it.
This helm was in my collection and I have better pictures to show for discussion.
I'd like to see new comments by moderators after these.

There are better fakes on the market...This is very simple to judge as an orrible reproduction.
My apologies

been simply refurbished after WWII. These helmets have been refurbished till
the 70's, with a modified nose guard ( or sausage as you commonly say), in fact these bear generally a more protruding nose guard, according to the size
of the same helmet. Look at the examples:
the one below is an M.42 of the RSI period at the West Point Military Museum:Attached Files
