i have always thought this type of eagle is ok and now there is one for sale on estand its a tunic cut off example

Typical period average quality Filz cloth base , typical grey silk-like thread , heavy embroidery a bit round .
IMO one of the original versions existing !
Never seen a repro made with such a thread and such heavy embroidery .

I agree with Nick. Quality made heavy embroidery. A good period variation imo.

I thought that I had one of these in my fake box but I do not. This does not stop me from saying that I still dislike this pattern and construction.


One of the key to my dislike is that the ends of the wings are rounded. I have never seen this in an unissued original breast eagle. Not a single original eagle that I own has rounded wing tips. I do have a pile of Reddick fakes that have this trait.
