all help good or bad apreciated
The second pattern smocks were intended to be non reversible so bleed through wasn't really a problem. But the first pattern was designed to be worn as a winter camo too.
I've also looked at a lot of repro splinter patterns and haven't found one that resembles yours either. Jim

Welcome to the club guys. Now you have to look as hard as badge collectors. But I believe you have it easier. There is so much fit and finish to a smock that the fakers will not get right. The upside is the in-depth features and understanding required to make an informed decision on a smock makes the hobby MORE fun for the guy who enjoys the details.

welcome to what could turn out to be the most talked about topic and one way or another we need to find an answer as there are both positive and negative sides to real or repo , I must admit i have never seen a perfect text book example apart from jims and i dont think many other people have too , thats why this topic has gone a bit quiet because people dont know now . The smock in question i have seen 4 examples all the same one from the US , and 3 from here in the uk , what iam trying to find out is who made them IE reproducer and why only so few , and if a producer was going to fake them wouldnt he have made more and wouldnt they of been poping up all over the place

andy
ps still has anyone got jankes web address or pictures of the belguim smock repos at the start of this topic
PPS sorry as well for keeping this topic going but if you were in the same position

I think most of us would rather defer joining, but it looks like we can't avoid it. The reproduction cloth items continue to get better all the time. jim

Andrew, sorry but fake quantity is no guarantee it's not a fake or is a fake. I wish I had the interest in owning these because a friend of mine has a few different smocks he'd sell me but... They all seem to just have the 'feel' and look and quality that is evident in some but not all of the ones in the photos above.

Breakthrough
Iam sorry if iam rushing into things or jumping to conclusions but iam excited and i now know why i cant find another splinter pattern to match my smock after going through hundreds of photos , the reason is ,its not a splinter pattern ,its the MARSH 43 pattern but in differant colours and without the flffy edges , I have compared it to photos and my original marsh 43 winter parka and the pattern matches up 100% identicle but without the flffy edges .
I dont have a clue WHY , WHERE , WHEN they were done but have a look for yourselfs and compare patterns , I do know these smocks are rare ,but i might have stumbled on a complete new variation of pattern that might have been a trial or a one off print , Who Knows what happened 60 years ago , I have sent Werner and Peter an email along with these photos and check pages ,94,96,142,143 ,and lastly 259 of the camouflage uniforms of the german wehrmacht and see for your selfs , also the main picture of my smock on page 3 , compare it to these of my winter parka
please let me have yourcomments
