I would pass on this eagle, not for me.

        Hello,

I don't care for the construction, design, or materials.

The top row of bullion is not always there , even on "simple" OO eagles !
The Bullion is done by hands and bring 1000's of variations ...
What could mean YL ? Good question ...

                Not a typical General's eagle.

Hi Nick if you look at the swastika it is tilted and not very well done. Cliff

You are "correct" Nick with regard to the top row of bullion.......it is not always there.

The problem with this eagle and the Luftwaffe example I posted is that both were done by a machine and not by hand. Unless the Germans had developed some special SECRET process late in the war...............both these birds are fake and both are from the same source. Hand stitched embroidered bullion does not show the stretch stitching exampled on both these birds. Look at how the wings upper bullion is "pulled" from top to inside on an angle. Not stitched on the angle, but pulled over. The swastika on the Luftwaffe bird is pulled so tightly that it has lost it's squared shape. This is not done by hand. Both birds show the white paper backing over rayon threads. The rayon will keep the bird from 'glowing" under black light.
(Rayon is even mentioned in the eMedals description. ) Another red flag for me is that the general's wreath is the same bullion as the swastika. That is rarely, if ever seen on hand stitched embroidered eagles. The detail is not there, the quality of bullion is poor. The paperbacking is not correct and is incorrectly pressed to the wool. There is no age patina, especially to the gold on the general's example.
As mentioned, several of these birds, with the same characteristics are showing up on various dealer sites at the same time. The "YL" may be some distribution mark or inventory control...........but it is very suspicious that it appears on both birds with similar negative characteristics. Both examples are also "flat" stitched without any separation padding. This is seen on cap eagles all the time, but most breast eagles, and especially general's eagles, show this padding by example, on a regular basis. The wool backing is another issue, but does not show well enough in the pictures to support any negative discussion at this time.

Bullion eagles are difficult to judge unless you apply some basic principals of material understanding, and quality of workmanship. The fakers are getting good, and these are examples, IMO, of some of the best of their work.
