    Piped tunic to show

    Good day all

I just want to show off a few pictures of my piped tunic for a 2nd Leutnant of the Infantry. It's one of my favourite tunics from my collection as the quality of it is just stunning, sadly I have no history with it as the Officers name on the Hannover tailor label is illegible (to me anyhow). It is however clearly dated 17th June 1940. I guess the original owner was in the money as there appears to have been no expense spared in the tailoring of the tunic. I love the press studs on the lower flap to keep the front panel closed.

Please let me know what you think.

    Best wishes

    Dave

If you can post a clear picture of the name tag we probably can read it and maybe tell you more about him.

The last part is his rank when the tunic was made "Ltn". Cannot make out the name or first letter, it maybe a "T". Hannover had one of the larger Officer candidate schools and many tunics were made there for men while there were in the school.

Thanks for the Hannover info Johnny. It's a shame that I've never been able to decipher the original owners name in this tunic, I have a few tailored tunics & this is the only one I can't read.

                Regards

                Dave

Member Naxos probably could read it. You may want to PM him. I think the first letter is an "S" or a "T". I have lists of all Heer officers from 1934-1945, both published and unpublished we can figure it out. With the rank and the date and the rank on the tunic I suspect he was severely wounded or killed or he was in a unit that went to Panzer Gren.

                          Hi gents,

Lovely tunic Dave, here's mine from the same tailor as yours.
It is a pre war walking out tunic for an "Oberzahlmeister"(paymaster)dated 1937.
Cannot read the owner's name too!!

                            Hi 'oldtimerguns'

Many thanks for showing us your tunic, which is also a great looking example. I Wonder if the illegible labels were written by the same person.

                            Best wishes

                            Dave

                              Thanks Dave,

It's difficult to say, IMO there's little writing differences that's why I don't think so.

                              Regards,

                              Will.
