Army private purchase breast eagle done in KM style

    Hi All,

I'm posting an army private purchase breast eagle that I picked up recently, which I think is interesting as it is done in the same style as a lot of kriegsmarine eagles that I have seen. I took a pic of the eagle with a KM eagle for comparison. This is the first time I have seen an army eagle executed in this style, but maybe more experienced colelctors have seen loads of them. If so, apologies!

The eagle is entirely UV negative, and the thread is a silvery white, or possibly very very light grey. In some lights it looks almost metallic, and the website that I bought it from described it as an officer's eagle. If it's an original piece, I think it is more likely to be for an enlisted man to jazz up a walking out tunic, or waffenrock.

I'll be grateful for any thoughts on this bird, even if you think it's a fake.

    All the best,

    Mark

          eagle

Is the background cloth dark green? It almost looks like it could be a KM admin eagle. Most unusual.

Very cool eagle, I would say its Kriegs Admin as well. It does look quite nice, and it really stands out next to the standard Kriegs eagle. Matt

              Gentlemen,

Many thanks for your comments, I'm glad the eagle passes muster. The backing is a dark army badge cloth green. This is a picture with the gamma adjusted to brighten the backing up. It would make more sense for this style of eagle to be navy admin, but the backing is definitely green, rather than the blue-black of navy admin.

              Thanks again,

Here is another lightened pic, with the KM eagle on navy blue for contrast. Hopefully the difference will show, but I'm not great with picture software!

                  Mark,

Super nice eagle. I have never seen this in an Army pattern before. Great score!!
