Looks like an original HBT tunic with insignia that has been replaced and is the incorrect style for the tunic. Also missing at least one of the correct "S" hooks to hold the buttons in place.

                  Couple of things wrong.
1st model hbt if the pleated and scalloped pockets dont deceive me..........

All the insignia is wrong and look M36 to me,not HBT.Insignia looks original but...............
The eagle should be a subdued M39 type(gray).Litzen should be the generic mouse brown type and sewn directly to the collar, not on the wool backings.
Lastly the chevron should be subdued gray tresse on an hbt backing. This is the brighter style tresse on black wool, backing which is reminds me of the m36 style.
I know that it is possible for earlier insignia to be used on later tunics.Certainly wool backed litzen, chevrons and different eagles were applied but what makes me suspicious is all of these looked replaced at the same time.I would expect to see at least one item of the factory applied insignia still remaining.
                  But stranger things have happened..............
Worst case....stripped tunic with original insignia post war replaced.Common combination offered by dealers.

Two concerns about the construction of tunic. No zig zag under collar and lack of rows of stitching around the outside of the collar, that should be under the missing zig zag.
The lack of zig zag would also indicate lack of the internal bias material inside the collar. The bias material is the collars internal reinforcement(and allows the collar to be stood up if needed) and the zig zag should be there to hold it in place.
I have heard of a couple of people talk about this being done in some rare cases but with the replaced insignia and lack of the collar stitching charateristics(zig zag missing and multiple stitching lines non exsitant),i would really get this tunic investigated before buying it.

I have seen that type of button securing ring used before but i also like to see the correct s-rings used.

                    Hi Pierre,

I'm with Keifer on this one, but these split rings made of chromed steel were often used!Could you please show use the lining?Looks like the buttons have been passed thru the flap covering the S-rings;when a larger tunic wasn't available the easiest way to make it suit the wearer was to punch new holes for the buttons..I've seen it made more than once and nearly always the rings (S-rings and split rings) were exposed!
                    FWIW
