    Panzergrenadier Waffenrock

This is my most recent waffenrock purchase for the collection which came from Herr Weitze. What are your thoughts on this one? If you need more pics, let me know and I will post them. The uniform will be physically in my hands tomorrow.

The loops. Which badges would be proper to put on this waffenrock?

The inside of the waffenrock. This one is different as there is no inner liner like most waffenrocks.

                  Todd:

No liner? Interesting... It's also very interesting how the piping is applied around the collar. Can you show any pics of how the piping is applied down the front and around the cuffs?

                  Thanks!

                  Drew

Certainly a peculiar one. Seems that is made of a lighter wool material almost like a summer version (maybe that's why liner is missing).

THe Waffenrock did arrive today. Here are a couple more pictures of the tunic. First is the underside of the shoulder board. It even has the button for a marksmanship lanyard.

A very interesting waffenrock, both for the branch of service anf for its construction.

I can't recall ever seeing a summer-weight waffenrock, but it makes sense, particularly for a senior NCO, who might well have more ocasions to wear one in the summer than other troops.

As for badges, it looks from the photo as though it might be configured to receive a 1914 EK I and a first class spange above it, with badges to either side. I would think that a wound badge and an assault badge in bronze would be correct.

Nice tunic, and a scarce branch.

Here is the piping down the front of the tunic. The piping is typical for waffenrocks. The material of the waffenrock is indeed of a lightweight material. Herr Weitze stated in one of his e-mails that this was the reason there is no lining in this one. This is definitely a unique tunic. All the buttons are marked 'extra fein'.
