It is a final pattern ( pleatless, straight pocket flaps) tropical tunic. These were used in limited quantities in Tunisia by flown in replacement troops
during the final stages of the DAK campaign so not considered a true Afrika Korps pattern tunic!
The breast eagle is an incorrect pre war patten often encountered on enlisted Waffenrocks. The tan backing makes many uninformed believe
that it is a tropical variant eagle, which it is not....Restorer's mistake!
Other than that it looks OK as an infantry Officer's Südfront tunic, (Lt.) but when the insignia was applied is anybody's guess...Eagle is an issue!

Nick is pretty much dead on. This is commonly referred to as a 3rd Model Heer tropical tunic. The collar tabs look pretty fresh but who knows, the eagle isn't the typical type encountered but it could be fine. My guess is that if the collar tabs are restored (probably are) then the eagle is also likely a restoration as well. I wouldn't pay a ton of money for it by any means, but a decent representative example. Matt

Not a bad price for the tunic and if the medals check out OK that would be a great bonus! Worth the gamble I think!

            Agree - Good price!
A correction on this pattern tunics use, though. Without any doubt they saw service in Africa at the end of 1942 with the 10th PzDiv.

Agree, good price for a put together postwar tunic. The eagle is not for the tropical tunic has Nick mentions (common mistake). The 3rd pattern did arrive in Tunisia with the 10th Pz Div (not DAK) in Nov '42. and perhaps earlier....and saw extended service in Sicily, Italy etc.

              I like the basic tunic

What would be the correct breast eagle for this tunic? Maybe a picture or a link?
Thanks in advance! And also thanks for all the answers

Enchanting to at least see a graceful fair wear and tear example for a change. Most of these 3rd pattern models are factory fresh..."yuck!!!"

The cotton/rayon blend tropical eagle with tropical litzen would have been in place when it left the factory.
                    Ray - AGREE!

Not really! There is only one pattern Heer (WH) tropical breast eagle...All other variants like embroidered types are fake ...
or are original but not related to WH ...and in different colors (= KM style breast eagles)
Here is my tunic removed one:

You can also use a continental "upgraded" officers eagle in flat wire silver BeVo or even bullion on such a tropical tunic...because no tropical eagles existed in "officer" quality, they sometimes used their continental eagles
                            instead! (cheaper solution!)

Indeed - they certainly did use continental insignia...
