    Late War Officer's Field Tunic

Bought this Officer's Feldbluse Tunic last weekend. The tunic has two ink stamps, a faded red stamp with a black ink stamp on it, frustratingly however much I photograph it I'm unable to get a good picture of the red stamp, but it does read
    1/0850/02
    /72
    M44
Rank insignia is that of a Hauptmann (Captain) in a Infantry regiment. The jacket is in good condition, no moth holes, I think all the insignia are correct together (I'm by far no expert ). One thing I noticed in the lining at the top of the both sleeves is a small cloth style loop (I've ringed it in red) and on the bottom left is a small pocket - Question what are the loops for ? and the pocket was it for any particular piece of uniform ? If further pictures are required, please ask. Any information appreciated.
    Regards

It used to be a EM M43 tunic made in gabardine, these with munchen depot are seen time to time.

It has been reworked to a officer tunic.

Its the first m43 gabardine tunic i see reworked.

Here is an example on how it looked before : http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=418537

The pocket is for the bandage, the loops looks like IAB (possibly Ek1) and BWB loops.

Eagle and tabs looks restored to the tunic.

              Daniel.

                Hi Daniel.S
Thanks for the post. Comparing the pictures on your link, I was shocked - your tunic is so much different - Pocket Flaps - Pocket Pleats - Back Pleats - Sleeve Cuffs - Collars - Different Colour Cloth Material - even the back seams run a different way to mine, its a complete revamp, makes me wonder how people can tell that it was originally a "M43" ?
The loops I was referring aren't on the outside pocket - but on the inside (picture 3) ringed in red. Thanks anyway for the bandage pocket info.

Definitely an M43 that has been really very extensively retailored. I think that is fantastic, really interesting. I do agree about the insignia most likely being re-stitched.

I like the tunic, very much.
The insignia, though, as stated by others is reworked - and not with the level of precision and care I would want to see, either...

Very cool to see a M43 like this converted to a officers tunic out of an enlisted...

                        Gentlemen,
Thanks for your posts. Received a number of surprises along the way. I've included a picture of the loops on the sleeves that I wanted to know a little more about, while I'm at it, the attached white collar I can't remember seeing them so often on tunics, does it have any special significance ? Again thanks for the help.
                        Regards

The loops were added by the tailor that did the conversion, they would be used when hanging the tunic on a clothes hanger and are sometimes seen on tailor made uniforms. The attached collar is called a Kragenbinde, this is not the issue type but probably a private purchase officer's style.

Thank for the extra piece of information.
