    Overcoat question

I recently bought an infantry officer overcoat, and even though all areas of inspection clear I am a bit concerned on the fact that there is only one button, instead of two, in the back strip area. I have searched in the forum for pictures without success. Does anyone has input on this matter?

    Thanks

    John

I agree, need to see pictures. It may just be an unusual example or something like a Dutch conversion which many times retain a single button hole.

Johnny thanks for the offer, but I went ahead and joined you guys. Here are the pictures. I tried at best to take a picture of the name label but this was the best I could get. I am not sure if its a maker label or the officer's name.

Does it have a five button front or 6 on each side? What are the shoulderboards? I think it is okay, maybe foreign made.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, the six front buttons are present (I guess that the last one is not very observable on the first pic....I think I have to ask for my money back from photo school.) I do not get your question about the shoulder boards, though.

What unit is shown on the shoulder boards. Sometimes this helps to figure out what something is.

Thanks again Johnny for the interest shown in assisting me with this one. The numeral is 78. Funny, this is the second one I have owned with the same number.

Might have started life as Polizei? I know these examples had a single button on the rear waist belt.

                              Best,
