Unfortunately he chose not to include this link in the sales thread. He simply stated that they are no longer for sale....

I own several tailor made pz gren boards and they are all of a better quality than this one. I know we are a self fleeceing up forum and just wanted to bring these up as I find them a bit odd. Matt

        RobertE,

can you post some pics or shoot me an email with similar style pipping? I have never seen/handled a set with this wool mammoth type pipping, not saying its not good just not a type I have handled or really seen.

Sure, here's an unmolested and documented tunic with the same type piping on the boards, collar, and front facing

I think the boards under discussion are made from the same materials. As stated, I have no problems with this type of piping, but additional discussion makes us all smarter. s/f Robert

Do I not understand something ? You ALL said it is BAD TO BONE / FAKE ! I have pulled it out from sale cause ALL of you wrote BAD and now you are writing that there should be link to disscussion and to let the buyer decide if he willing to buy it or not .

If something is BAD/COPY /FAKE, than in my undertanding, that means IT IS NOT FOR SALE as original ! I'm enought honest to not sale items which in opinion of others are bad. I'm not the guy who is trying to cheat someone.

So you should be more decided.

My opinion will not change; the shoulderboards are good but I'm not going to sell something what others think is bad. Too many troubles etc.

Hi, these shoulderboards are sure fake ! Because I never seen early shoulderboards with early piping made from typical late war feldgrau cloth ?

Not all said they were bad, friend, and I'm sorry for muddying the waters. I know this can be frustrating - I think you did the right thing by pulling them, though.

If you look at the pictures of the underside of the piping for the stand pair, where there is little to no wear, the wool piping looks close enough to be like the ones on my tunic. Mine are originals.

If the boards under discussion do turn out to be original, then the tress is definately added, IMO. The elongated diamond design on the top is not wartime.

Ok. Now I see the diffrence in tresse. the tresse on yours is more square , the tresse on mine is more diamond.

And yes it frustrating and annoying when when somebody is saying something bad and few minutes later is saying that there should be link with discussion on the selling thread which mean that no really the first opinion is firm.

You did get diamond pattern tress that were wartime. Yours are however post war. However with all of 11 years of collecting experience I guess you know this. Jacques

Yes, there was less square tress produced, but the elongated tress shown is post-war. That long diamond stuff is not original.

pz grn straps v. jaeger straps

NICE jaeger tunic and documentation. Thanks for pics.

But from the close-ups of the straps on the tunic it appears the piping on the straps is made from a different type of material than on the pz grn straps being discussed?
Have seen the piping on the straps in question on a number of straps offered for sale in the recent past. Don't like it but can't tell you why. As one WAF poster said "I know what watermelon tastes like but I can't TELL you what it tastes like."

I hate hearing this statement and generally consider it a cop out, but to take this further I think we'd have to have the two pairs of boards in hand.

If you compare the UNDERSIDE (unworn) piping on the boards under discussion to the piping on mine, they are very similiar to the point of being identical. Certainly close enough to be considered the same type.

Don't let the "open pore" look of the worn wool on the suspect pair throw you. That's a very common look when nap is completely gone on wartime piping, but most of us are more familiar with the cord or silk piping when worn.

To rewind, there was discussion as to whether this type of wool piping was used on boards, as part of a larger discussion as to whether the boards were original. That's why I posted the pictures and link, and hope it helps in the overall assessment of these boards.

                                Robert,

thank you for posting the strap, very interesting for sure. I will still condem these straps. The tress is bad without a doubt and its sewn on with the same gray thread that the rest of the board is comprised of which tends to make me feel that we can call them bad. Original pipping can be acquired as can all other TR cloth pieces here and there. Either way I do not like these boards and posted them for opinions which is to everyones benefit. In my opinion I do not believe these to be originals and never did, hence why I asked for the discussion. Again thank you to Robert for posting his strap with similar pipping. These are a dangerous fake, but a fake either way in my opinion. Matt
