This tunic was shown on the Forum years ago by a member who obtained it after I had sold it, but later I had the opportunity to get it back and I gladly reacquired it because it was a great example of an "untouched battle worn field tunic". It was originally a M-42 issue tunic which had been modified by the addition of a dark green collar with private purchase Jager tabs applied, possibly for walking out. It has been clearly field used however and has that appearance.

I only have a small handful of tunics that I am fairly confident were worn in the field - even among my "Feldblusen" I have some that I highly doubt were worn at the front. They are just too nice (like a few I see in this thread. ).


My humble contribution is this M40 worn by a Kanonier. The nap is almost completely gone from the wool, the button holes are heavily worn, and the tunic was field shortened by cutting off some of the bottom of the skirt, moving the bottom pockets up, and then folding the new bottom edge up and restitching it. That was done sometimes for fashion as a shorter tunic was considered smarter looking but was also done in the field as the bottom of the tunic became frayed from wear. This one also displays that the soldier kept ink pens in his breast pocket. Only one spot of ink is visible on the exterior, but the lining under the pocket flap is badly ink-stained. The interior lining also shows evidence that the tunic was probably washed by field laundry services. The shoulder straps were also replaced at some point because the straps are a later model than what would have been originally issued with the tunic.

Absolutely! I especially fancy the light grey/green backing on the Litzen, that really stands out.

Well, might as well keep the thread going. Haven't put this one on yet, it's definitely combat worn and untouched too!
