Colin, I love both tunics!

The small button under the right shoulder strap is probably for an adjutant's Fangschnur (aiguillette) since it is an officer and he would not have worn a Schuetzenschnur like an enlisted soldier/NCO.

A Tunic which I can contribute -
My Infantry Hauptmann tunic which I purchased 30 years ago. Accepted by the Frankfurt clothing Depot in 1940, period modified with false turnback cuffs which show the exact same wear as the rest of the tunic, bullion officer quality breast eagle, and the addition of a dark green collar. The Tunic has been tailored with the bottom front pockets raised so that they now cover the belt hook holes at the front although the belt hook holes are retained at the back. The medal award loops were present when I purchased the Tunic so I added what I think would have been a likely combination of awards that fit the loop placement.

Thanks for posting this. I have this signals M36 tunic which was upgraded and altered for use by an officer.
Shortened, lower pockets moved upwards covering the belt holes, addition of a green collar, creation of French cuffs and partially removed liner.
Unfortunately the eagle was removed and replaced by a collector post war.

Here's one of my favorite combat worn sets. An Oberfeldwebel Reichswehr NCO Transitional Tunic, named to "Franz Bauer", with his original matching "teller" style visor cap. The unit markings on the interior of the tunic march those on the shoulder boards, and suggest he was with a machine gunner's unit. Note the field stitched elbows and some field stitching along the edges of the button line.

I have others but this is untouched and probably my most 'battle worn' tunic in keeping with the thread title, a great thread btw!

Here is my untouched SS Model 1940 tunic. The SS sleeve eagle is machine woven and is applied with the original "T" type stitch pattern. There is evidence of a cuff title, but has been removed. It is hard to see in these pictures. This was common at the end of the war. The tunic is medium size (stamped "92").
