    Panzer wrap

This one has been posted before also, so I will just do it the easy way again. I can't add anything over what I said before.....my memory is definitely not better than before, actually it is worse since my stroke.

I can't take any more photos now, since it is packed away.

P.S. When I said all insignia was on it when I got it, I should have been more clear. I meant the sew on insignia.....i.e. boards, eagle, tabs, DKIG and etc.. The pin on badges were put on to have something in the loops so they wouldn't be empty for display. They seemed to fit, except I image that the guy may have had a numbered PAB and I didn't want to take one of the ones out of my badge display to put on it.

Heer tunic and breeches later war

I am doing the same with this one as well, since it has been posted before. This is all I got with it, as I got it from a vet years ago. Nothing added or removed, it never even sewed the missing button on....which I think is in the pocket, but maybe not. I cannot check because it too is packed away somewhere for the work on the room.

Now, before someone says the straps do not go with it.....I have already heard that. Maybe not, I really don't know; however, I do know that neither U.S. G.I.s or Germans always wore everything exactly as it was supposed to be or completely according to regulations (I didn't either when I was a JAGC CPT....I wore WW2 sterling silver pin back CPT's bars and WW2 JAC "brass" which were much larger and better looking than the regulation ones and etc..and a larger WW2 eagle on my visor cap......I got a lot of compliments from the senior officers on the military court jury too). So, I am sorry to dissatisfy some, but I am going to leave it just as I got it.

I do appreciate the information, but I would rather keep it as I got it.

I just wish I could remember more about it, i.e......whether I got it here or in Germany. Maybe Germany since I did visit German vets in their homes when I met them and got invited.

      Thanks,
      Ron

I was fortunate enough to pick up these two lovely tunic (from the same bearer) a few days ago.

The first one is a tailored light weight tunic with lots of wear, fading and a few war-time repairs.
The man has literally lived in this tunic

            Partially "decked-out".
The overseas hat is from the same soldier.

The second one is an "Austrian style" light weight tunic with a EM breast eagle.
This piece also has tones of character and displays very nice.

Indeed two very attractive tunics, I noticed them as well.

Was by any chance the photo of the previous owner available as well?

Don't believe it is an EM upgrade though such as you imply; these summer field made tunics are mostly made for NCO or officer ranks and this is a particular officer design incl. the French cuffs. The fact that the collar shows previous EM tabs could simply be due to the fact that the tailor used an EM collar, which this is.

Thank you.......sorry I was just looking at this post again, and noticed something I missed before. One reason, besides the photo and the tabs sewing marks, that I thought it was an em upgrade is that in the closer shot of the eagle it looks like maybe there was an enlisted eagle sewn on it too. However I suppose, even though the one on it is in terrible condition, it could be a replacement for an earlier one which was in even worse condition since this thing was obviously worn hard and long.

One thing about it pictures can never show, and which caused my first wife to never want to touch it or be near it, is the smell of it. Like I said I got it in the mid-70s and for several years after (about 15) I had it displayed on the chest form; when my wife divorced me I packed it in a trunk with other things and moth balls (where it stayed until I came back from Germany again in 1988); it came out in the open air again and stayed out until the work on my room started (when all of my stuff got packed away again in moth balls); and it still smells really bad particularly near the armpits.......the guy wore this thing a lot and sweated a lot too I suppose.

Hope you don't mind I brought this thread back up. Thought I'd contribute here with my used and abused Reichsheer moleskin tunic.

Bottom is a collage of the repairs.

Nice tunic. Does it have the belt support straps on the back or were they removed?

                                Hi, Thanks!

It still has the hooks on the back.

Did you mean the straps inside(shown in pic on right), or were there others that might have been removed?

                                Thanks again!
