    Windbluse / Anorak ?

I came across this windbluse / anorak recently and I'm not sure if it's good or not. I searched the forum and there are some similarities with other ones but nothing exact. It's lightweight and not reverseable. It has a zipper instead of eyelets and a laceup front. Is it wartime, postwar or civilian ?

Here's a shot of the back. I blacklighted it and nothing glows and it does seem to be wind proof.

My 'educated' guess would lean towards civilian. However, I have a picture of a Gebirgsjäger wearing a near identical one, albeit in a greyish/ greenish hue.

              Best,
              Vincent S.

                Hi Vincent,

Thanks for the input. If you get the chance can you post the photo? A friend suggested the HJ. I looked in my books but couldn't find anything.

Zipp brand sipper is period and "DRP" patent stamp is a good sign for dating it as pre war!
btw I was just in Nurnberg 2 weeks ago! Nice Ski anorak and indeed most likely of civilian or para military origin. No RBNr stamp or size stamp...
but still could have been pressed into military service for sure!
                  I like it!

Here's a similar civilian ski garment (Life magazine cover so American....) from around 1937, proviong that this style is not strictly military!

Thanks Nick. I think it would look nice on a mannequin, say a Gegirgsjäger or maybe an HJ flak helper.

                      Servus Raymond,

Interesting looking Windbluse. These were civilian mountaineering jackets that were popular from the 1920's -1950's. Pre-war and early war Gebirgsjägers are seen wearing many different types of these 2-pocket Windbluse until the standard 3-pocket Windbluse became available.

Here are some various types of 2-pocket Windbluse:

Here are a couple of Windbluse at the Gebirgsjäger Museum in Sonthofen:

And a few that I have:

                          Wow BergführerKiser

That is one of the best responses to a question I have seen on the WAF in a long time - super post with amazing rare information. Seems you have a great passion for these jkts and Gerb related items

Awesome - thanks so much for sharing.

Great response. Here's a link below to a two pocket jacket I posted before fyi. Not the same as the one that started this thread, but similar to some of the ones in BergführerKiser's posting.

Thanks BergführerKiser, those are great period photos. You can see many different variations being used. Your two displays show off these anorak's very well.

Stepdale, I did see your post when I was searching for info on these. Yours is much closer to the issued anorak than mine. It's great to see all the different aspects of these jackets.
