    GBJ Anorak

    Hello,
Wanted to get some expert opinions on this. It appears to be a version of the Mountain Troops anorak, though with only two pockets on the front instead of the normal three, and no flap over the neck area. I've owned several anoraks before, and in material and construction techniques it appears to be the same as those, but I've sold all of those and now have nothing to compare. The tunic is absolutey mint, and I can't see where any modifications have been made. I also have not found any markings. All of the buttons are late war paper.
Sorry for the poor quality of the photos but the best I can do indoors with a flash.
    Thank you,
    Dale

                        Hi Dale,

It sure looks like one, but the color is obviously different. I would like to know too.

hi dale i`m having trouble getting info on my gerbis anorak too

maybe nobody knows much about them

do the buttons on the cuff bands match the pockets? they look different to me

your neck cord looks a bit nylon have you tried the flame test on it?

try looking at as many period photos as you can to see if you can see that style, i cant recall seeing an anorak with that type of collar with no pockets

ive just looked through all the books i have access to

5th Gebirgsjaeger Division - Hitlers Mountain Warfare Specialists (by Michael Sharpe)

Gebirgsjager - German Mountain Infantry (by Gordon Rottman & Stephen Andrew)

German Mountain Troops WWII Photo Album (by Bruce Quarrie)

The German Army Mountain Soldier of World War II (by Wade Krawczyk and Bart Jansen)

and not seen any anorak like yours

German Mountain Troops WWII Photo Album (by Bruce Quarrie) is particularly good on pictures of gerbis in winter clothes

most of these books are available for download from http://www.nazi.org.uk/

hope this helps on your quest
