If anyone knows, I would like to know what the patch in post #4 is, that might be original to the jacket. I have never seen it before

Hitler Youth Landjahr insignia. No way it's supposed to be on this jacket like all the other insignia that's been added.

OK, can you please explain the basic difference as I don't know much about these tunics.

The biggest difference I would say is that the BGS tunics have the dark green collar (like WH tunics) and are more greenish in color whereas the Bundeswehr dress tunics are light grey and have collars made of the same fabric as the tunic.

BGS is a military/police force that patrols/defended the borders and conducted some special operations with GSG-9, BW is regular German Army. Probably more people collect BGS so it will help get hits on searches.
