Gents,
I am in the process of restoring a M34 feldbluse (dark feldgau collar). I am looking for an original first pattern eagle and I am having difficulty figuring out exactly which pattern is correct for the M34 feldbluse.
This is what the originals looked like:
<a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&current=M34eagle2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/M34eagle2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
<a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&current=M34eagle.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/M34eagle.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I have seen a lot of these (below) for sale, understand they are Waffenrock eagles. They seem to be a coarser thread than the feldbluse eagles.
<a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&current=waffenrockeagle.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/waffenrockeagle.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I can get this one, which looks like a BeVo pattern but seems to be a heavier thread.
<a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&current=unissuedeagle.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/unissuedeagle.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
My first question is:
Are the Waffenrock eagles and the M34 feldbluse eagles the same thing only the Waffenrock eagles have been sewn to backing cloth? Or are they two different types of eagle?
Second question is:
Is the BeVo style unissued eagle depicted above the correct pattern for the M34 feldbluse? To me it looks very similar but maybe the thread is a little too heavy like the Waffenrock eagles?
I would appreciate some eagle experts offering some comment on this.
Thanks,
Mike
