Need help IDing early heer breast eagles

    Gents,

I am in the process of restoring a M34 feldbluse (dark feldgau collar). I am looking for an original first pattern eagle and I am having difficulty figuring out exactly which pattern is correct for the M34 feldbluse.

This is what the originals looked like:

    <a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&amp;current=M34eagle2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/M34eagle2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

    <a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&amp;current=M34eagle.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/M34eagle.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I have seen a lot of these (below) for sale, understand they are Waffenrock eagles. They seem to be a coarser thread than the feldbluse eagles.

    <a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&amp;current=waffenrockeagle.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/waffenrockeagle.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I can get this one, which looks like a BeVo pattern but seems to be a heavier thread.
    <a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/?action=view&amp;current=unissuedeagle.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/mprictor/unissuedeagle.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

    My first question is:

Are the Waffenrock eagles and the M34 feldbluse eagles the same thing only the Waffenrock eagles have been sewn to backing cloth? Or are they two different types of eagle?

    Second question is:

Is the BeVo style unissued eagle depicted above the correct pattern for the M34 feldbluse? To me it looks very similar but maybe the thread is a little too heavy like the Waffenrock eagles?

I would appreciate some eagle experts offering some comment on this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Greetings flashheart,

The 3 eagles that you posted are the first pattern Heer breast eagle and what you are looking for to some extent. The first and third eagles posted were used on the feldbluse. The second eagle posted is off of a wafferock or dress tunic. It is also a flatwire eagle where the others are cotton thread.
There is no difference between eagle #1 and eagle # 3 except that # 3 is not cut and folded.

    I hope that helps.

    Fred

You want to use eagles like the first two and the last and Hand sewn. This one is also restored

        Gents,

Great, thanks for the help on this. Now I just need dark feldgrau EM shoulder straps and dark feldgrau backed collar tabs with arm of service stripes. Easy!

More correct would be the feldgrau pointed shoulderboards and tabs on a feldgrau backing, or the same on a dark feldgrau backing. I thing the last variety is called 'resedagrün', or am I mistaking? Very difficult to find... Never found any of these myself...

Sorry, misread your post. You allready were correct yourself...

It's late over here in ol' Europe, have to go to bed soon... Tomorrow I'm teaching about fascist Italy, have to be clear-headed...

            Good night,
