    They were aviilable, in surplus, back in the 1960s and 1970s and offered as originals by many dealers. We now know better.

    Thanks Bob, I supect the other embroidered type like I posted was for use on the gray service uniform. I saw a set of original 1957 embroidered awards at the panzer museum in Munsterlager in 1985 but could not remember what they looked like.

          It has been awhile since any posts were added to this thread. This is somewhat disappointing as no real conclusions were reached. To that end, I have some more information to add. I posted two hand embroidered versions that I originally purchased as genuine, but now think are post war '57 versions. To support this, I am posting this photo on page 197 in the book: Orden und Ehrenzeichen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland by Johannes Ottinger:
