What I was asking but didn't word my original post very well was why is it then that when an "added to" tunic gets posted, the tone of the replies is usually one of disdain that the insignia are not original to it? Do you see what I'm driving at?
I'm all for "restoring an item back to it's original glory" as Glenn put it, so long as it's done properly. However, I can't remember the last time anyone complimented on a job well done of doing that exact thing. Unless the whole background is known, the usual comments are that it's been well sewn but not original so collectors are suspicious that it's been done to decieve.
It's one of those catch 22 situations that I find interesting and the reason why I asked the original question.

Yes,when insignia is added I think most feel that it will eventually end up being sold as all original and untouched..Nothing wrong with restoring something back to what it once was,but it should be mentioned at the time of sale as it affects the value .IMO

I of course,would much rather own something that was sewn up pre 1945 at a German factory,rather than something that was restored in say 1995.

Thankfully most restorations are done incorrect that sharp collectors can spot, but some are very well done and would fool many.

The breast eagle question:

Is the eagle on this wrapper a M42 EM eagle which i believe ...?

I ask because i have found also breast eagles as M42 Model in officers style on dealers sites, but i have not seen this type of eagle on a tunic before.

What is your opinion ...?

To me it looks like a factory issue subdued eagle. This images was a close-up to show the stitching but it would be this type of Eagle.

Well the restauration of the Stug Wrapper is finished

I must say that it was a lot of work but i am very happy with the result. I found a set of nice field worn insignias but i had to buy these from a dealer
