Great tunic, and very interesting discussion!

I too would love to hear the story about its capture. Please post more information if you can.

Also information about your Grand Father and what he did during the war.

Thanks for posting, what a great 'woodwork' find.

        Johnny,

My teleportation ray missed and I think I picked up Tracie's 400Lb neighbors moo moo.

You did nail it pretty close though on your summation. Now we must wait and see how much the new owner will reveal. Hopefully the capture story from both sides!

I was joking but I feel for the seller, probably being pummeled by calls and other bother. I had a collector friend shoot himself and the same day it was in the paper "friends" were in the driveway to offer to help the family by buying his collection at fair prices. One man offered to pay for the funeral in exchange for the collection. I hope people behave and respect the seller.

So has this been sold now then?

Its a shame to sell it really. Even if not a collector, it would be nice to keep it in the family for future generations.

Though i dont know the background of the seller, and maybe the money was needed.

My grandfather never talked about how he aquired it. I've been told by Bob from this forum that Helmut Ritgen said an American artillery officer, which my grandfather was, took it from him. Here are pics about my grandfather during the war. Once again, thanks to all of you for the information about this and also about my grandfather. This is a very gracious and knowledgeable group of men.

                  Tracie,

Thank you for sharing it with us. Thanks for the additional information and photos. Your grandfather was a high ranking individual and hero, only fitting that he bring home such a trophy.

This thread keeps getting better and better. Tracie your grandfather was a hero alright. I hope who ever buys your panzer wrap will give your grandfather the respect due and offer a fair price. As a veteran I'm not sure if I would want my kids to sell off everything I have brought back, but that is just how I feel.

                    Best regards, Steve
