Would it be possible to see a close-up shot of the eagle, as well as the collar tabs - particularly the reverse of the collar where they are sewn on?

Eagle close-up is on the bottom of page 1....I agree with you on the award scenario.

It is pretty common to see tunics used like pin-cushions by vets. No worries there.

Glenn, I did see that image but the quality is very poor and I can't make out much from it, hence why I asked.

            What an amazing wrapper!

If possible is there any chance of the capture details, i.e. when/how he acquired it?

I read once of an account of the impending capture of a pz troop where he removed the skulls form his uniform to keep from being confused as SS.

Who knows here of course , but the gold removal could have even been done by the vet himself for the dk wreath and spange.

Just a real pleasure to see this one. Thank you for posting it.

              Glenn,

Before it gets buried, may I suggest that the thread be copied in "THE VIRTUAL MUSEUM" forum.
              A really amazing discovery!

Glenn is probably driving to Arkansas right now. . .Mike Davis will cut him off at the pass but Luca will get there first in his Star Fighter only to be beaten by Richard P. and his teleportation ray but all will sadly arrive to find Wolfe-Hardin sitting at the pool with the tunic.

                    Fantastic Tunic and thread.

This proves once and for all that when a REAL item of significance is posted, this forum knows what its talking about and all real collectors DO love being a part of it..... (I hear a lot of negative sods at shows about us at the WAF).

Great thread and great interactions by all to ensure a real deal item gets the plaudits it deserves. That's one expensive piece of history.

I have been watching this story unfold since the beginning and I have to say what a great tunic, with real history

I am also impressed by the effort put in by forum members who have uncovered its original owner. Well done to all involved

                      Fantastic tunic.

This is indeed an amazing wrapper a real piece of history and in my opinion the same uniform in the picture showed by Ben.

Will it get a safe home now, not be be used as a pin-cushion or goldmine ever again? Will the new owner restore the damaged awards? Will the orginal owner know about his tunic surfacing in the States? So many questions, it's like a television-soap series (for gentlemen)...

Well, let's hope so. At least this thread is proof of how it is right now and as found.
