opinions of Gebirgsjäger wool coat? help?

Ok,

I know the talk about these being cut down over coats, but this thing looks period done / tailor made. Anyway the construction is really well done and it's been well used with the kind of wear marks you would like to see.
Does any one have one of these, or are there any period photos of these in use? is the edelweiss good? What are your opinions?

Most likely post war demilitarized for civilian use...They had many shortages...
Shortened, back strap modified, buttons no doubt civilian and shoulderstrap fixtures totally removed.
A war time coat would not have the back strap modified like this... why bother? That's to give it a civi look...
and the fact that the shouderstrap loops are in a non matching color wool tells me that these were added later...
It has been restored back to military configuration (adding buttons, loops,insignia).
Still displays nicely as is but in my view post war modified...
and fixed up to look WH again...

I saw one somewhat similar except cut like a Gebirg windjacket. It has SS officer shoulder boards sewn in, the buttons were long shank SS marked. I feel it was all legit.

No uniform expert BUT I think there is a GBJ lightweight coat just like this in water repellant duck..TO ME it looks quite original..JMHO Bilbert
