    U-Boat black leather jacket

    Hi Guys,
I see different threads on what was used for U-boat crews, and i agree all colors were used, black, grey with different style buttons, and cuff straps.
Here's mine with the cuff straps, but the buttons for some reason were either plastic or bakelite, not the usual metal KM buttons with anchor.
This has the metal clasp at the neck as seen on tunics, fully lined with black wool with inner pocket.
But the best part is, the U-boat badge is sewn on and through a metal loop.
The badge itself shows a little gold gilt left on the back pin.
Unfortunately, two buttons are missing, but it shows wear up on the shoulders and sleeves, and the stitching is come loose on the back upper collar.
And it does have the stamped eagle over the M.
    Enjoy guys
    Regards,
    Gary

                  Hello, Nice jacket and insignia!

The black buttons are no problem! I have them on my jacket also and believe these were original issued on these black jackets.
I understand that black was mostly used by machine/engine room crew members.
I think the award shouldn't be on the jacket: in a small u-boot it would stuck behind all kind of things. the jacket was an over/ protection garnment, so if the badge was worn it was probably worn on the shirt or jacket underneath the leather jacket.

You can always use this jacket for the SS panzer Div. HJ! France 1944

Also here are the pants that came with the jacket, looks like they were hardly worn.
Not the usual straight leg, any thoughts on these?
                    Regards,
                    Gary

Hello, black buttons are not a problem for me but the y are not the original from the tunic, but could be period made. Black leather jackets wore mate silver buttons similar to the grey ones od the grey leather jackets.

I have also a black leather pants like those, with the front waist flap, typical of KM pants, and breeches style. Mine are in mint unused condition, they are very big, and with the KM depot stamp inside.

A picture of my MS crew man with the black jacket, you can see the mat silver buttons.

                              Very Nice Eduardo
If you look at photo #5, you can see where they may have been another button.
Are your pants stamped into the leather?
                              Regards,
