        Luftwaffe Style Panzer Collar Tabs

More very intresting photos of Panzer tabs on Luftwaffe Tropical uniforms.
        Thanks for sharing!
I have seen several period photos where the black Panzer or Sturmartillerie collar tabs were in the shape of standard Luftwaffe collar tabs and not the elongated Heer style Panzer collar tabs. I've had for years a Panzeraufklärer tab in my collection that I have always suspected was possibly a candidate for Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung "HG" due to the shape. (Sorry for the poor scan and I'll take better scans if time permits).

          Luftwaffe Style Panzer Collar Tabs

Taken from the old TM-E 30-451, United States War Department Technical Manual is this photograph of a captured Sturmartillerie uniform from the "HG" Division. IMHO the collar tabs appear to be the same color as the uniform and my guess is white branch color piping. Note that they are standard Luftwaffe shape. As a side note I'm often wondered what became of this uniform (along with all the others that appeared in the TM) after they were photographed for the manual. Tucked away in some GI's foot locker? In storage in some museam? Or thrown-out in the trash???

          Regards,
          Mike

I think there are a number of possibilities on the background color on these tabs. The blue gray is one possibility with several shades of green being another. I have seen a killer original blue gray Luft stug wrap ( non HG) with Army style tabs with a dark green background with red piping. It also has a red piped collar. I would not be surprised if the wrap in this photo is Luft blue gray also. In spite of the consensus of many forum members the blue gray wraps do exist and there are many photographs that it cannot be distinguished whether the wraps are Heer field green or Luft. blue gray.

            Mike...thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for posting the pictures Michael,
this is also a combination I have never seen before: "usually" on stug HG wraps I've seen white tabs with skulls.
