    The EARLIEST bird

    Gents -

I just picked this one up and am quite pleased. It's pretty darn rare so I thought I would post it here for reference. It is the FIRST model HEER tunic eagle. Woven white thread on light grey, and luckily still attached (hand sewn, which is correct). This eagle was short lived - the 33/34 model feldbluse only. Right at the conversion from the Reichswehr to the Wehrmacht. After that you saw the white bevo eagle on dark green.

I would like to ask then: what is the development sequence for these birds?
I mean, I have an eagle on light tan backgorund which I believed was an early type too,but in the period pictures could be easily confused with this one. Since it could also be (the light tan I mean) an eagle for waffenrock, I would like to understand. Thanks.

                  Greetings Earl,

Sorry to blacken the sky Earl. After I posted the link I thought "What an *$$!" I didn't mean to take your light away but to show some other examples of that neat eagle.

Your eagle is exceptional because it is still attached to the uniform material. That is nice. What makes this eagle desireable is that it is used! Most of these that we see are uncirculated.

Zeller, This style of eagle was manufactured on a few different shades of background material. I have seen Grey, Tan, Grey green, and black and that is just the Heer eagle. As I am sure you saw in Johnny's thread these were made for the KM and CA too. These were also made in the flat silver wire and are know for their use on the waffenrock.

                  Earl, I like the super model idea. I'm game...July 17 , Sparta,WI.

That is a great example, the first I have ever seen still attached to uniform material. Very nice.

Any chance of posting a shot of the reverse so we can have a look at the sewing pattern? Thanks!

Nice eagle, but I don't think it is the EARLIEST eagle. I think there is one earlier - on dark green for the 1933-34 police/heer conversion tunic.

I'll post an example when I get a chance.
