Comments on Panzer Tunic on Estand

I have listed my panzer major's tunic for sale on e-stand recently and I would like to get some expert comments as to its condition and originality. To me it is 100% original and I purchased it as such from estand about a year ago. Hopefully with a little discussion we can drum up some interest and a buyer!

It is a nice original base tunic. I have no problem with the loops, based on the edges of the shoulder straps I think there is a chance the insignia may be replaced and to because of that it IMO it is still a little too high in price.

Hi Michael

Are the shoulder boards tight?. Do you see evidence that the seam inside the jacket had been opened? If ther SB were replaced, If you place your finger between the seam of the shoulder and the board you will feel a whole?
The best is to compare with a tunic that has original boards.

To me it looks like the boards have rounded edges and are slip ons. That happened durign the War but it is something to consider and look at in hand.

Thank you for you opinions gentlemen. I do not have the tunic in my hands at the moment but I will tomorrow. I remember examining the shoulder boards and noticing that they are tight...as for the interior I will check again and post some photos soon!

I agree. The boards would have to be replaced upon promotion from Captain to Major, but the lining stitching and the manner in which the boards have been sewn in point to an amateur and not a professional tailor. There is always an outside chance that it is a period alteration but I doubt it.

Follow-up on this, I bought it to restore, everything was sewn on with polyester thread from the EK ribbon on. The eagle had the previous edges cut down which you can see in the photos and the original tabs had been machine sewn. The award loops appear real and show use which is nice but everything else was applied post War.
