Just got a new & neat dvd on the Tunisian front. Interestingly, there are a couple neat frames depicting assault gun tunics in wear AND assault gun tabs being worn on a DAK tunic by an officer. Probably the 10th Panzer.

Nice photos.
Not only the Stug Bn but the Pz troops (7th Pz Regt) themselves wore the black Pz tabs on their tropical tunics in the 10 Pz Div...here is one more of a custom Officer's tropical tunic stamped Berlin with the Pz tabs & tk's attached. Thanks Ralph.

Yes, this is a very interesting topic. The DVD is entitled: "Victory in North Africa". I bought the last reasonably priced one on Amazon.com. Here's the link for another - but this seller's price is astronomical! I'm sure it can be found on another site for around $10 - $15.

It appears to be a Hummel, Marder or other SP gun. The terrain looks like Tunisia.

More likely late North African campaign - Tunisia - than prior. The 10Pz Div. could have brought this 'fashionable' affectation with them at the end of 1942.
I agree with Chris - it certainly looks like Tunisia

The Pz in post # 6 is the 16 tank in the 3rd Co, 7th Pz Regt...only the 10th Pz Div marked their AFV this way in Afrika.

Should mention the 2nd Pz Div also wore the black tabs w/tk's on their tropical tunics in Greece.
