    Strange Tropical Jacket

Picked this up recently from ebay for 70 euros.

It's very salty to say the least but I thought it would a good opportunity to study a Trop tunic for very little money. When it arrived, it wasn't what I was expecting at all. I did a quick search on the forum but couldn't find anything like it so far. I can see faint size markings exactly where you'd expect so see them and the buttons are bakelite (one missing) and marked JFS 1941. There are also vent holes underneath the armpits which would suggest KM? plus it's got two pockets on each side at the bottom.

    Thoughts gentlemen?

Better photos can be provided when I get the chance in the daylight.

                    nice pick-up

too bad about the damage, but you can't beat the price!

Does it have signs of having any insignia? These "sahariana" style tunics usually had a tropical sleeve eagle, and were worn by LAH and RFSS troops in Italy mainly, and by Volkstrum and HJ at war's end as well...

Not many signs of anything left now but that's just made my day!

Mods, any chance of moving this to the SS forum please?

Thanks Gene, I was ready to give up on it because it got lost in the post for a month and a half!

                            Worth the wait I guess!!

It is an original but as far as "being there" IMO that is storage damage unless the wearer attacked a Allied Laundry unit and was hit by a bleach stream. Looks like it has been chewed on as well by critters.
