The little hairy ones have definitely been chewing on it but it's actualy in better shape than the ebay pics suggested so I'm happy.

Hi Ben, are the buttons the 'bakelite' ones? They are probably well marked on the backs.

Nice salty coat. Its actually a first pattern with pleated pockets!
The later unpleated ones is shown in the young HJ-Volkssturm member portrait, who was issued SS tropical gear for Reich defence (in Germany).
Standard factory buttons on these are painted glass-resin actually !

Agree with Johnny on the wear on this one.

Would add these were worn not just by the ss, but by some very few DAK officers and many Italians as well....the Sud Front too.

Hi Nick, I can never seem to get my chemical composition right on these but, I do agree with ya.

no pun intended Ben but this guy is killing me
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

These also existed, and fairly rare, with factory Luft tropical eagle, I've owned one, and it was confirmed by several as the real thing.

Just had a close look for the first time in the daylight.

It definitely once had a cufftitle, sleeve eagle and a collar tab.

                                Wow,

That is a very salty coat. Interested to see how your sewing skills bring this back from the dead. Definatly in need of a semi resto job bud I don't know that it would be easy finding insignia in such rough shape that will work with the tunic. But could be fun hunting for it! Matt
