Stug Wrap, private purchased?

This jacket was most likely made for theatrical use, even without the embellishments. There are no interior pockets and it does not appear to be made well enough to call it a tailor made private purchase piece. As you have shown it can be made to resemble an assault gun wrap, but I think thats about it.
What does the underside of the collar look like?

It is amazing that it is as similar to a period cut as it is when at that same time it seems clear that the maker was not trying to fake or reproduce an actual WWII wrap.

Hello phild,
thank you for your statement.
I think, if this tunic was made post war, so somebody try to fake an ww II wrap.
For me there are too many similarities. I try to show you what i mean in this pictures.
So maybe someone try to fake a ww II wrap with this late period DDR cloth. I will compare the material with this late period DDR material.

I agree probably theatre / film use.
Based on the lining and no attempt to use adjustable cuffs.
Not something often mocked up for films.
But I think there are 2 in Battle of the Bulge, Generals batman
and the officer who plays Panzergrenadier leader.
Prehaps someone can post a screen shot.
Cheers,
John.
