The eagle is most definitly not factory applied, it has been added later. How later who knows? Maybe during the war, maybe post-war. I would wager it is post war applied judging by the way it is sewn. I am not very comfortable with the boards, and the cuffs have been altered (as are other areas of the tunic). Overall I am not to excited about this combat tunic at all.
That eagle is an awful sloppy handstitch.
It would get you kicked out of a morning formation.
Back in "the days" when lots of uniforms were missing eagles and eagles were cheap, I would give them to my grandmother who had sewn clothes all her life.
She could do a beautiful handstitch. She was not thrilled about "Nazi stuff" though.
Looks to me that the tunic has been in a washing machine several times...
(In my eyes the breast eagle is post war added ... and the condition of
some button is not matching the rest !)
