The eagle is most definitly not factory applied, it has been added later. How later who knows? Maybe during the war, maybe post-war. I would wager it is post war applied judging by the way it is sewn. I am not very comfortable with the boards, and the cuffs have been altered (as are other areas of the tunic). That eagle is an awful sloppy handstitch.
It would get you kicked out of a morning formation.
Back in "the days" when lots of uniforms were missing eagles and eagles were cheap, I would give them to my grandmother who had sewn clothes all her life.
She could do a beautiful handstitch. She was not thrilled about "Nazi stuff" though.MLPComment

Looks to me that the tunic has been in a washing machine several times...
(In my eyes the breast eagle is post war added ... and the condition of
some button is not matching the rest !)
