As an Austrian unit the 44. Infanterie Division is ,to my mind, unique in the story of Stalingrad. You have essentially a foreign army that is incorporated in the Wehrmacht in 1938.

I have picked up several pieces, from disparate sources, over the years. These include pieces directly from Austria. One begins to see similarities in the pieces as they are acquired.

First a pair of Feldbluse style straps from Infanterie Regiment 131.

Here is a pair of Feldbluse straps belonging to an Unteroffizier of the 134th Reichgrenadier Regiment "Hoch und Deutschmeister":

Here is a studio portrait of a soldier (and bandsman) from Infanterie Rgt. 131, another regiment from the Austrian 44 Infanterie Division which was destroyed at Stalingrad. The Austrian straps were subtly distinctive:
