Hallo!
As staded by Jos before, and Bill after (I agree with), is very difficult to say if that kind of jacket have fought or not. Lw pilot have dress estensively that kind of garment that take from the private tailoring. I'm more confidential with the jacket with french hardware (eclair zip as probably Jos jacket, french made for sure), than the others, because lots of the leather jacket the pilot whore in war became from the french's seller, take as the France was occupated. That's true, also german made jeacket was worn, with german harware, but don't have to be that the descriming. Leather jacket was sewn with wartime hardware long after the WWII ending. Myself have found lots of 50s production, some made also by prominent wartime producer, as SrtiWa (Striegel & Wagner), all with prym and RiRi hardware.
In recent time that jacket (that the france guy call 'cycliste'), have reach lots of worth, too much for me, when the difefrence among a combat-use jacket and a civilian one, is made only by the regalia is sewn on ( and can be easily sewn )!!! The problem is: if in Iraq your troops wear a civilian made windproof jacket, with the only different made by the army patchs sewn on, the same stuff buyed in a Kansas City store, is 'original'? It worth as the other? The same thing is for the 'cyclist' jacket!
Parrothead jacket have the front zip remplaced (the only thing that can be remind to the luftwaffe, and could be put on for upgraded the item). How did you say if it was used by luftwaffe guy? Is too easy put on an eagle and shoulders strap loop for make a wartime stuff!
IMHO doesn't came from the own of a LW pilot.
Excuse me for my nasty english, but hope you understand me!
Cheers, Frank savage
