Is that oxidation on the Observer's badge?

Very heavy oxidation; I believe I've seen pics of this one before and I'm not convinced it is all original.

I think that at minimum, the badge was added later on. The other insignia is in great shape, yet the badge's oxidation is this heavy...? Not likely, IMHO

maybe the flash from your camera changes the colors. Do a daylight shot.

                      Hi,

Again, my comments are purely subjective as I have never seen the tunic before in person and that my feelings could easily be reversed with a hands on exam. I think that the tunic is awesome.

I agree that the badge is real. No questions about that. Also, the badge has been very well applied. My only concern is the huge variation of the oxidation(on the aluminum threads-white powdery oxidation) on the wreath of the badge versus what is on the other insignia on the tunic(tabs, boards, and eagle). My only "issue" with the tunic would be the POSSIBLITY that the badge was placed post-war. Again, I could be wrong.

I also agree that the badge has quite some damage to the wreath compared to the other bullion items on the jacket..
Tight sewing has nothing to do with wartime applied or not, you will be surprised how many "tailors" there're in this hobby and some are really good..
I saw a couple of 3 of these very same badges at Winkler's site couple of months ago, same "oxidation"..

                        Jos.

The problem is the photo. It is a little bit unsharp and You can't see exactly if the white highlights in the pic are only bright light reflexes or the white oxidation which sometimes come over this sort of metal thread.

Could You make a large JPG pic in somewhat more distance (for more sharpness and depth of sharpness) and a little bit darker (under exposured)? Then You can photoshop the badge out so You can see every detail You want. You also can mail the pic to me, I will do it for You if You haven't Photoshop.

Hello, nice tunic but it seems the breast eagle is mounted abit too far to the left. Bill Bourque
