In many cases there was a swimmingvest covering the badges.., if they wore them.

To answer your question...I had it 4 days because when I informed the seller I was returning it he told me he would be away for a few days and not to send it until he returned otherwise I would have sent it back the next day.

I put it on the mannequin to take photos to keep for future use, reference etc. I took photos both with and without the badges so I had both for reference. Nothing more.

I didn't dress the mannequin specially. I already had a fliegerbluse on it and simply took that one off and placed this one on to photograph. I didn't go to the trouble of putting on the shirt, the tie, the RK for this bluse, they were already on it.

BTW when I asked on the history of the bluse Paul Jarvis told me it was a walk in at a show and had no other history. No family stories, nothing.

        You misunderstood me, Jos.

I mean, that they get the loops for the metal badges just sewn a little bit more to the outer part of the jacket on their own wish, so that they were free from the straps of the parachute harness. No need anymore to remove them and put them on again.

Yes, I understood, but what I mean is then it would be better not to wear any badges at all.., besides that a parachute harness for pilots has also a strap around the waist..

Telling a lot of "blabla" , but pics of POW that just bailed out of their aeroplane to proof that no METAL badges ( this is not the eagle) were worn, that you won't give us. See what I mean ? Telling an opinion is one thing, proving it, another. Damn' you're so good !
Give me a few pics and I'll shut up forever.

Come on, guys. No personal attacks needed here. Just discuss the jacket.

                      Dear GD/LW,

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your statement regarding the wear of metal versus cloth badges, but in my experience the vast majority of aircrew wore metal badges/awards while flying. In fact I do not see cloth badges being worn in that many photos at all. Perhaps there was a regulation that prohibited the wear of metal awards/insginia that I am not aware of, if it did exist it was vastly igonored.

                                Hi GD/LW,

To give credit where credit is due...the picture was posted by Andreas.

I am not doubting your quote regarding the regulation that aircrew had to wear cloth badge, I have just never heard of it before. Can you reference a book or German order?

Again, ref the pictures, even all of the late war pictures I have seen, almost all of the them show aircrew with metal badges. Additionally, as a collectible, one rarely finds bullion flight badges and one would think if this regulation were followed there would be more bullion badges around and cloth EK1s etc.

As an aside, my father was a air gunner in 43-44 with the USAAF and if he, or any crew members wore anything at all it was metal wings.
