    Hi Bob,

Nice blue shirt eagle! Jos is correct, as usual , some authentic eagles have gaps between the wing feathers. I have several tropical eagles with gaps in the wing feathers that are veteran bring backs.

Bill, wonderful Panzer tabs and strap. And yes, I believe the veteran pinned extra pips on the strap in order to carry more more of them; thus unknowingly creating the new rank of Sgt.General

Hello, thanks for the panzer tab compliments. Its unfortunate in that there is no name offered with this veteran group. The grouping was bought from the son of the father(Vet's neighbor) that recieved it from the late Vet.s family after the Vet. passed on. The house was emptied, sold and several boxes given to the neighbor himself now passed on. Included are several US 3rd DIv. patches, an ANZIO ring and some tinnes. Sadly another lost soldiers testament. Bill

            Choo...Choo.. Railroard CT

Another, odd piece. Why? Because the guy thought these guys were Railroad security. So he shot them all, until he learned that these fellows were civil servants. He said every time he saw a train, he'd start crying.

                        KUBAN Shield.......

Does this fit in this thread? It's not insignia? But it's still on the uniform!

Please forgive me for tainting this thread with a metal item!

                        Cheers,
                        Howard

The G.I.'s that killed the krauts!

I'll tell that to the next vet. who sells me some cut off insignia. Ya right!

Who cares about the uniform? Especially when you get the best parts!

                            It's a perspective.

                            Some love, some hate.

I love cloth, and hate daggers. Enjoy helmets, but don't enjoy visor hats.

Just remember, it's just another relic.

                            Cheers,
                            Howard

P.S. Here's a period photo showing General Kussin, after being killed by British Paratroopers. Operation Market Garden. Looks like his neck got in the way of a souvenir hunter! Who has his collar tab? BadBob?

I think your comment reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of what is being shown here. The items here are examples of "trophies" acquired by front line combat troops. Front line troops could not carry with them entire captured jackets or helmets, since they are too bulky and too heavy. All they could do is cut off the insignia and stuff it in their backpacks. The way I see it, it is either this cut-off insignia or nothing at all, since in all likelihood most of these uniforms would not otherwise have survived at all.
