Nice original tunic....curious how you obtained it?

I believe the breast eagle has been added in "modern" times. They did a nice job but it doesn't sit flush enough against the tunic nor do the stitches holding it in sit down the way I like to see them. After 60+ years this isn't the look I'm after.

Is that liner the typical kriegsmarine liner?

I have to respectfully disagree, that is not a Reichswehr jacket. The bottom pockets on a Reichswehr jacket, although hidden are slanted downwards towards the bottom. These lower pockets are horizontal across. The inside, as revealed in a post after yours, shows there are no inside vent pockets.

I agree that that appears to be a KM coastal artillery jacket. I think that alone could make the insignia suspicious. It is still a very nice period item

Albert has it correct, I think the implication for the first post was that it was an early Heer jacket and I noted the differences. It is, after seeing the inside beyond doubt a KM CA jacket. I suppose it could have been obtained and used as a walking out jacket by an Army soldier. Not sure beyond that it started life as a Navy tunic.

Sure, they had metrosexuals in the heer too; he probably wanted to wear it just because it was a "Boss" made garment. It is a cool piece I've never seen a Boss production tunic for a combat branch KM or Heer. I have seen pictures of Heer troops wearing KA looking tunics. I will try to find them.

I have been trying to reach the dealer who sold me this tunic, (he has a good reputation and is known to members of the forum) to discuss the repro straps with him. He is also the one who found the straps for me and sold them to me as originals, and I seem to recall that he told me that he himself obtained them from one of the most well known dealer firms out there.

Just cannot quite remember so we will discuss that first and I will then post a final four detail pictures including a nice straight-on view of the eagle, the lining behind the eagle, the sets of three belt hook holes at the back, (there are none on the front) and the button hole ribbon ends showing how it was sewn into place when I got the tunic.

Hello all, for sure this is a KM-KA tunic, but this is not the first time that I have seen one of this used by a Heer man. Here in Madrid I know one in a dealer shop. Probably they did this because the best quality and the better look of these tunics.

Actualy, "practical garment" was the only thing they produced before, during and after the war.

Hate to be a myth buster but the whole houte couture thing as we know it today has nothing to do with Hugo Boss' company of that period. Sorry, but the "flair for design" came decades later... if you know what I mean.

The lining behind the eagle. I have examined this material very carefully, but found no stitch marks of any kind. It does look slightly rougher in this region but I'm pretty sure it is due to nothing more than honest wear.

I had not paid attention to the bottom pockets...Now that it has been noted, I agree this is clearly a Kriegsmarine Coastal artilllery cut tunic. At least that's what it is in design, in look its (now) wehrmacht... and had me fooled!
Perhaps its a period branch switched tunic? or otherwise (more likely) incorrectly restored...
Still a nice tunic by an interesting maker!!
I would restore it back to KM coastal!!

Can not comment on the tunic itself - but the awards shown on this uniform w/o rank - are unrealistic.

what is unrealistic of the awards for the rank? A qualification badge was awarded to the lowest guys, and an award for bravery could be earned by anyone.
