    early or foreign volunteer boards?

I have these two slip-on boards...are these early or possibly eastern volunteer boards or..... All I know is, they don't glow...the pointed ends say early, the exposed undersides say late war, and the piping says pioneer?

              Boards

I don't know what these are but they look like they are made out of the exact same material as the Chevron in your other post?

                maybe...

                maybe its the photographer!

nah, the chevron is a softer gray wool and these are a greenish field-gray with very tight nap...a fello forum member identified the boards as being coastal boards made in the M44-style...interesting!

The KM didn't employ branch color or waffenfabre to their shoulderstraps. They had embroidered or metal devices for trades, IE. winged shell, crossed anchors, and cogged wheels etc. I thought these might have been a pair of coastal boards prior to being embroidered and the black tape applied since they were single layer wool straps

                      Boards

After the War a lot of the Foreign legions went into Fast Food. These actually are from the circa 1947 Lamb Kabob franchise that was opened in former Turkistan. Snappy waiter uniforms were made from existing stocks of Field grey clothing.

Seriously I would guess the are, or were constructed to look like, something related to Eastern Vols.

I have never seen "M44" KM boards with waffenfarbe but a lot of people have better knowledge on that than I do.

This is true, but the black waffenfarbe was used by the Naval Fortress Engineers Corp since spring of 1943, so IMO these are a late ones from a EM of this corp.
