Here he is again, helping to man-handle an artillery piece, which would support that possibility. I am not sure of the necessity of a sabre, given the activity!

Wonderful photo Kerry, I remember bidding on it too The sabre is there, because it is some obscure cossack cavalry unit. Judging by the house architecture, this is somewhere in Ukraine.
